As a teacher and tutor, I’m always working to promote confidence and success in my students.
I’ve been tutoring for over 20 years at various capacities while working and raising my own children. I am a life-long educator and learner.
Because I am a parent also I relate to the position we’re put in when our son or daughter is struggling academically or otherwise. You want to help them in any way you can and may have tried everything. I think I can help. Start by sending me a quick email and we can talk over the phone so I can learn about your child and their needs from your experience—after all you know them better than anyone! We’ll set up a first tutoring session and take it from there. You’ll be part of the process and your child will get the academic support they need. Often after the first session, students want to come back. Your son or daughter gets tutoring in a particular subject area, such as Mathematics, and is also taught other study skills that apply to learning other subject areas.
If students find they no longer need tutoring on a regular basis they’re always welcome to come in for Homework Help Hours here and there.
Laurel Learning has expanded tutoring services to include English Language Arts (ELA), as well as, other subject areas such as Chemistry, Social Studies, and foreign language support. I tutor students in grades 3-12 in primarily the following courses: elementary and middle school grade-level mathematics, Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Statistics, and Pre-Calculus. We are also fortunate to have a talented pool of professional educators on hand as needs arise. So if your child needs academic tutoring or support services in an area not listed, please inquire. We also teach study skills, test preparation, and have experience tutoring adults going back to school. Sessions run an hour in length. Because I want as many students to get the academic support they need, my rate has been the same for many years.
$50/session with an educational professional
$32.50/session with a peer tutor
I always advocate that tutoring is 20% content and 80% relationship driven. I value each of my students and take a sincere interest not only in their success and progress, but also in their view of themselves and their place in the world going forward.
“You’ll be happy to know (my son) has been accepted into his #1 college choice and other colleges. I wanted to thank you for your help working on his essays, it made a difference.”

“I can’t thank the 3 of you enough!! … (My son) checked his grades all weekend in anticipation of his grade… He was so excited to receive a 97 A+ last night. We also check his other grades, he has gone up 10 points … in English and Math!”
– parent of Freshman student
“…thank you again so much for all your help this semester and last semester! I not only enjoyed the class as a whole but I truly enjoyed you as a professor. Not having the best experience with math before taking your course I thought I was going to absolutely hate it and do awful once again. To my surprise I was completely wrong. I really enjoyed your approach to teaching us math concepts and I loved the many different in-class activities that we did. The lesson plans, group final exam, and the papers we wrote this semester truly made me get out of my comfort zone and experience new aspects of education.”
